AI Intelligent Image Judgment Project at Beijing North Railway Station of Beijing Railway Bureau Group Co., Ltd.

Beijing North Railway Station is an important departure station of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-Speed Railway, serving a large number of passengers. To ensure the smooth hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympics and the safety of passengers, the project deployed an AI intelligent image judgment system at Beijing North Railway Station.

Prohibited items that passengers may carry in their luggage are diverse in type and complex in form. Image screeners need to identify and judge a large number of images in a short time, resulting in high work intensity and pressure. The AI intelligent image judgment system automatically analyzes parcel images output by security inspection machines, accurately identifies prohibited items in passenger luggage, and marks them precisely. It also provides the similarity between the identification result and the characteristics of prohibited items, assisting screeners in quickly locating suspicious items.

The system covers the identification of multiple categories of prohibited items, including firearms and ammunition, flammable liquids, explosives, knives, sharp instruments, blunt instruments, military and police equipment, tools, and flammable and explosive items. It is compatible with security inspection machines of different brands and can be directly connected to existing security inspection lanes. In daily operation, the system performs preliminary screening of parcel images and provides prompts. Screeners conduct review and confirmation based on the prompts, forming an operational process of "system screening, manual review, and on-site handling," which not only improves image judgment speed but also retains the flexibility of manual judgment.

During high-passenger-flow periods such as event support, the system provides additional image judgment assistance for security inspection lanes, helping security personnel maintain image judgment quality under high work intensity. After the project was put into use, the security inspection image judgment efficiency at Beijing North Railway Station improved, greatly reducing the pressure on security inspection staff and improving their work efficiency. The system continues to play a role in major event support and daily operations, providing strong support for passengers' safe travel.
